People often ask me, "Do you only coach around weight loss?" and the answer is "NO!" I have clients in many arenas: career exploration, relationship growth, and just life in general. I specialize in weight loss, and about half of my client base chooses to focus in this area.
At one time, I had what seemed like a genius idea to pursue certification as a personal trainer, but I realized that while I love working out with my clients, I am not interested in which muscles they're using. So, often I walk with my clients for our sessions, but I do not prescribe fitness programs or provide input (except with Nordic Walking, where I am certified).
I am also available to meet with clients at my office on Old Town Fort Collins at The Executive Center. The small size of the office there precludes fitness workouts.
Fees for indiviudal coaching are $75 per session.
Group Work
Participating in a group provides the added benefit of giving support to your weight loss and fitness efforts. I hold weight loss support groups at my office and via teleconference. Fees vary depending on the number of participants, and they range from $10 - $20 per session.
Families
My mission is to get to the root of emotional eating, and working with children, teens, and families gets addresses patterns before they're solidified. I work with children and teens individually, within a family, and as part of parent-child pair.
Often food patterns can be invisible, leaving simply the sense that what's in place isn't working. Parents are uncertain about how to proceed - they want to honor their children's natural inclination for independence, yet they want to guide their children to healthy habits. A third party, one who listens to everyone, provides the missing link.
People often ask me how my approach is different when I work with children and teens in contrast to my work with adults. There are more similiarites than differences. I believe each person has an inner compass, and I strive to connect people with their natural guidance system. With children and teens, I bring more direct instruction than I do in my work with adults. My experience as a certified teacher also informs my work, and I apply my hard-won lessons about how to cultivate and maintain trust with children and teens.
i also work with parents on how to hone the relationships they already have with their children so that both children and adults get more of what they want from those fulfilling relationships. Send me a note if you'd like me to email you a copy of a presentation I developed on how parents can foster healthy weight and body image in their children.
